Why have a Free engagement session for Bride and Grooms to be?

As a wedding photographer in south Jersey, I offer a free Engagement session with every wedding package .  This is so important for many reasons.  For the photographer it gives me a chance to see your style, work with you, and and get to know you as a couple.  I can only truly be prepared for your wedding after meeting in person for a photo shoot.   It also serves as a practice on being comfortable in photos and being directed by a photographer in the wedding portraits.   It is not always easy to connect with each other while a camera is clicking away.  That is why a practice can be so helpful.  Your wedding pictures should be real and reflect your love for each other through relaxed interactions.  An engagement session like this one can help achieve that.

My new Canon 5d markii

After adding Canon's latest version of their full frame camera, the 5d mark ii, to my gear,  I had to try it out.   I used my go to models, my boys, Adler and Aven.   I am not just a photographer but I am also a mom who cant get enough pictures of my own.
I ventured out side with camera in hand and a small soft box on my flash and snapped as fast as I could.
There is something about this camera that is different than the first 5D.  It Just does what you want it to do every time.  I don't think it can take a bad picture.   I can't wait to do more.

Children's sessions in New Jersey and surrounding areas start at $225.00

Bohemian love

This was a care free couple we photograph in the quaint historic town of Haddonfield New Jersey.  With camera in hand we walk along the streets and explored the sights.  Two small dogs crossed our path and made for a charming picture.  At the end of the shoot we made our way to the roof top of their apartment.  There written on the wall  " your a princess,  I'm a pirate,  let sail the sea together.."  My lyrical partner( my  husband ) saw this and came up with the idea for this shot.   I love it because it was perfect for this bohemian couple.

Love working with other Photographers

Last week I had the privilege of working with a great Photographer.   Stephanie Sherwood of Sherwood photography.  She has a strong sense of her self and style and makes everything look fun.  Shooting as a second shooter I got to take on her style of high energy photojournalism.  With my 135mm lens in had I stood on the side like a sniper waiting to capture that secret moment of emotion.

What do you think of my new certificates of authenticity?

I am so excited because I found this great french label I reworked for my Giclee certificates.  What do you think?   These will come in all of my prints and on the back of the originals.

New kitchen series.

This is my new kitchen series.  If I had the kitchen of my dreams this is he what I would need in it.  Very stripped down and simple.  Distressed on wood blocks with vintage colors.  These colors came to me when I saw something on a movie I cant remember.  It was literally  a one frame flash of an old general store from the early 1900s.  The shelf in the back had labels with blue greys and golds ; very vintage and not too feminine.  It is funny where inspiration comes from.

Paris Rose

This is a photo of one of my paintings that I had Giclees made of and I then added color to it and clear satin brush strokes.   I love it so much I want to do a small limited run of these for my etsy shop.    The best part is I can do the rose in any color.   Very shabby chic!  My plan is a series of these awarded flowers.  This Park titled in the piece is a rose competition in Paris that started from Marie Antoinette.   I imagined this would be one of the invitations for it.

My studio life.

My studio life is how I make sense of it.  All covered in peanut butter and jelly and baby spit, it is sure not glamorous.  In fact I am writing with one hand right now.  The other is busy holding a sleeping baby.  But my life is my studio.

I am kind of in a capsule right now.   I am 3000 miles away from were I grew up. This cute house is from my husbands grandparents and sits on the main street of the town.  It is so small,  the town does not even have one stop light in it.   But it has what is important,  two antique stores across the street with the post office in between.

My dinning room is my paint studio,  with tear outs of a world I dream of on the walls.   Baskets filled with started paintings, and broken vintage suit cases that hold my paints and brushes.  It is far from the sunny spot I use to have in San diego in the picture above.   But my vision is still strong.  Create works that will find many beautiful homes.  Or to beautify homes with them in it.
